*[Clerk-Treasurer Carol Zeman announced that the Summit County Health Department was making Radon Test Kits available, free. These could be picked up from the SCHD's Graham Circle office in Stow, and the Village Hall would also soon have about 30 kits to distribute.
January 2003 is National Radon Action Month! Click here for information about radon hazards and mitigation.]

*[Mayor Ray McFall reported the following from his communications with Rep. Steve LaTourette's office, regarding the proposed Army Reserve Center: The situation looks "favorable" for the village in that it appears to be increasingly unlikely that the Army Reserve Center will be built in Boston Heights.]

[Village Engineer Steve Schreiber reported that construction was progressing on the handicap-accessible restrooms at the Village Hall, but that the contractor had requested an extension to 23 January 2003. Completion had been expected by the end of 2002. No one raised an objection to an extension.]

[Engineer Schreiber stated that he had met with the Summit County Metroparks and Gene Esser, Summit County Engineer, in connection with proposed rebuilding of the Akron-Cleveland Road bridge over the Bike & Hike Trail. This project is designated SUM CR 16-1.95 by the county.]

COMMITTEE REPORTS

*[Councilor Mike Cheung reported that the Planning Commission, at its meeting of 4 December 2002, had completed review and approval of several amendments to the proposed zoning plan, and had recommended them to the Village Council. He stated that there would be a public meeting to consider this final version of the zoning plan, at 7PM on Wednesday 8 January 2003, an hour before the next Council meeting.]


*[Councilor Cheung stated that he had reviewed the Village financial statements through November 2002.]

*[Council Pres.-PT Bill Goncy stated that he had reviewed October 2002 reconciliations for the Mayor's Court.]
*[Councilor Jim Hudson reported that the Streets and Highways committee had reviewed usual doings by the Roads Department, which Mr. Hudson briefly recapped.]

*[Councilor Terri Slane stated that she had reviewed the Village's expenditures through November 2002.]

OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS

*[Mayor McFall stated that he had received a recommendation from Fire Chief Bill Baldwin for a new member of the Fire Department. The Mayor made the appointment.]
