CORRESPONDENCE

[Mayor McFall noted that a village student was in attendance, doing a school project on the council meeting.]
[The Village Solicitor noted that the Mayor had composed a letter to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), delineating objections to the current re-construction plan for State Route 8 through the Village of Boston Heights. This was in response to the recent public meeting on the State Route 8 construction project, 27 Feb 2002]
[The Village Engineer stated that the traffic study on Olde Eight Road was in still in process, but would probably not yield results allowing the installation of stop signs or traffic lights at Boston Mills Road or Hines Hill Road.]

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION

[In response to a citizen's question, Mayor McFall and Councilor Palumbo reiterated the Village government's concerns about loss of businesses at Boston Mills Road, and lack of access for village safety forces. Citizens were refererred to the Mayor's letter to ODOT for details.]

AN ORDINANCE REGARDING COMPENSATION FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BOSTON HEIGHTS AND DELCARING [sic] AN EMERGENCY.

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PERMANENT ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE VILLAGE OF BOSTON HEIGHTS FOR THE YEAR 2002 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

ORDINANCE H-2002

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 137.01(a) OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE VILALGE [sic] OF BOSTON HEIGHTS REGARDING THE COMPOSITION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

ORDINANCE I-2002
[First Reading]
AN ORDINANCE CREATING A NEW CHAPTER 1503 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF BOSTON HEIGHTS ENTITLED "RAPID ENTRY SYSTEM".
[The Village Solicitor noted that this was intended to establish a new system for commercial buildings to allow access for firefighting, using a key lockbox.]

COMMITTEE REPORTS

[Councilor Cheung stated that the Planning Commission/BOZ had met and approved McLean building signs.]
[Councilor Palumbo noted that the Safety-1 committee had met, and noted that the new police cruisers were already received and in use.]
[Councilor Hudson noted that the Streets Committee had reviewed normal maintenance, and discussed road and drainage problems in the Ashbooke West development.]
[Councilors Slane, Cheung and Goncy (P-PT) each made a pro forma statement that they had reviewed some aspect of the Village's recent expenditures or finances.]

OLD BUSINESS
NEW BUSINESS

[As both Mayor McFall and Council President Goncy (P-PT) were to both be absent during some period in the following month, a Council Vice President was required. Councilor Hudson nominated Councilor Cheung, who was unaminously elected by Council to that position. Dr. Cheung demurely abstained from this vote.]
