Proposed Land Acquisition
and Construction of a
U.S. Army Reserve Center,
Boston Heights, Ohio

The Secretary of the Army proposes to purchase a 22-acre parcel of land in the Village of Boston Heights, Summit County, Ohio for the purpose of constructing a new U.S. Army Reserve Center (Center). The proposed site for the new Center is located along the 7100 Block of Olde Eight Road, just south of East Hines Hill Road, in Boston Heights. The new Center is required to house ten Army Reserve units that have a combined strength of 1,079 soldiers. The Center would provide necessary administrative, training, and storage areas required by the units to achieve proficiency in required Army Reserve training tasks. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the U.S. Army has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FNSI) for the proposed action. The EA-FNSI evaluates any potential environmental and human health effects associated with the proposed land acquisition, and construction and operation of a new Center at the proposed location.

The EA-FNSI has been submitted to federal, state, and local agencies for regulatory review. This EA-FNSI is available for public review at the Summit County Public Library - Nordonia Hills Branch, located at 9458 Olde Eight Road in Northfield, Ohio, and on the internet at www.usarc.army.mil/88thrsc/news/archive/enviromental_assessment_complete.asp.
